What an exciting start to the year! High Impact Development has taken on not one, but two interns!! Our new additions, Kimberley and Sophie, are both recent graduates from the University of Sunderland with hard-working attitudes and fresh ideas for the company. Our goal for their internship was three-fold:
– Review and develop High Impact Development’s promotional material.
– Provide real life work experience for our interns and allow them to practically apply the skills developed from their degrees.
– Create an opportunity for self development by going through some of High Impact Development’s training, for example: sitting a masterclass with EQi feedback.
Let’s meet them…
Hi, I’m Sophie, a recent graduate from Middlesbrough with a passion for writing and a huge love for music in all its forms. My degree was in Magazine Journalism and my three years spent being a student were some of the best I’ve ever had. I’m always curious to learn new things and I’m fascinated by the pace and magnitude of the internet today, which has made looking after High Impact Development’s Twitter account a really exciting and interesting task.
Before securing my internship with High Impact Development I’d worked at a restaurant for almost five years, so this kind of job is a breath of fresh air to me. Working alongside Gary and the rest of the team has so far been a fun and rewarding experience and getting to know the brand and its many capabilities has been a pleasure.
Hi I’m Kimberley from Darlington and I’m passionate about writing and have a strong enthusiasm for musical theatre. My degree was in English Language and Linguistics with Drama, allowing me to study language in a variety of contexts, from drama dialogue to language acquisition. Going to university has given me some amazing memories, including performing at local theatre and getting the opportunity to see many live professional shows.
Before obtaining my internship with High Impact Development I’d worked in retail for nearly five years, so I was eager to sink my teeth into something new. I’ve learnt so much about online communities and the art of blogging. This opportunity has allowed me to be really creative, through designing and writing new company material. I’ve also been helping to develop the company’s Facebook page. It’s been interesting to learn about the company and what it does. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Gary and the team; it’s been a great opportunity.
Within our joint working projects, we’ve created a business overview presentation which has been used to promote the business online. We’ve also designed leaflets which we plan to hand out at networking events. At the moment, we are creating and designing new material for a company brochure and always looking for ways to spread the brand name online.
We’re only spending three months with High Impact Development, but so far we’ve loved it. The skills we’ve gained will be valuable to us in the future no matter where we end up, and we’ve made great friends in the rest of the team.
